Cape Cods and Ramblers: A Remodeling Planbook for Post-WWII Houses

"This unique and wonderfully illustrated book presents practical design ideas for remodeling 1950s and 1960s era suburban housing to fit the demands of modern families for more space and amenities." (CharretteCenter Inc was involved with this project.)

Carolina Inspirations

"Most of the houses in this book were designed to complement their natural surroundings. Inspired by homes of the coastal areas of the South Carolina Lowcountry, to provide spectacular views of fields, marshes, rivers and the ocean, while taking full advantage of every possible view and vista." (CharretteCenter Inc was not involved in this project.)

Longfellow Neighborhood Bungalow Renovations Pattern Book

The Longfellow Planbook illustrates ways to remodel bungalows and other small houses to fit the needs of the 1990s without sacrificing the character found in homes built in the arts and crafts era. (CharretteCenter Inc was involved with this project.)

New Urbanist Home Plans

"A collection of traditional, Period Style home plans. Wrap-around porches. Attic playrooms. Butler's pantries. Fireplaces. Kitchens designed as the center of the home. Big pantries, wood floors, natural materials, and room for just the right antiques. Attention to detail and design.. nooks, private spaces and a sense of connection to home, place and family." (CharretteCenter Inc was not involved in this project.)

Not So Big House

"Architects build dreams, and we also have to help clients reconcile those dreams with real budgets. A house that favors quality of design over the quantity of space satisfies people with big dreams and not so big budgets far more than a house with those characteristics in reverse." --from The Not So Big House by Sarah Susanka (CharretteCenter Inc was not involved in this project.)

Old House Web

"You can search a collection of more than 11,500 house plans from residential architects and designers." (CharretteCenter Inc was not involved in this project.)

Split Visions
A Planbook of Remodeling Ideas for Split-Level and Split-Entry Houses. (CharretteCenter Inc was involved in this project.)

TND Planbook Series

The popular Traditional Neighborhood Design Series plan volumes offer homes with modern interiors, plus exteriors that don't look like afterthoughts. (Peter Musty of CharretteCenter Inc was involved with this project.)
